The White Plains YMCA is a proud provider of the American Red Cross Health & Safety and Aquatic Training programs. Our courses are offered year round to both members and non-members and include both full courses and/or re-certification/renewal courses.

CPR, AED & first aid

The Adult First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims about 12 years and older. CPR/AED for professionals

The CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers program trains professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. Successful students will receive a certificate for Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and is valid for two years. Click here for more information…

Wilderness First Aid

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course is to provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response, such as wilderness and remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes. This is a 16 hour class and gives a 2 year certification upon successful completion of the course. Click here for more information…

Basic Life Support

The purpose of the American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course is to ensure that individuals with a duty to respond (public safety professionals and healthcare providers) have the requisite knowledge and skills to respond to patients who are experiencing respiratory and cardiac arrest and airway obstruction. The emphasis is on providing high-quality care integrating psychomotor skills with the skills of critical thinking and problem solving to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.Successful students will receive a certificate for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and is valid for two years.
